Orientation

Each year, during the first three weeks following the start of classes, an Orientation Program is conducted for students newly registered in the Department of Mining Engineering. The purpose is to introduce the University campus and its units, the Department of Mining Engineering, and the Department’s academic and administrative staff. The Orientation Program is announced on the Department’s website, and students are also contacted directly.

Within this scope, students are first introduced to the Department of Mining Engineering building and laboratories. The academic advisor for first-year students delivers a seminar on the Education and Instruction Regulations and the use of ÇUBİS (the student information system). The Department Chair organizes a “Welcome and Meet-and-Greet Tea with the Department’s Academic and Administrative Staff.” In addition, introductory presentations are given on units within the University, and discussions are held with students regarding career options in mining engineering and the future of the profession. Finally, a guided Library tour is organized on campus to familiarize students with library resources and services.
